Summarise What a Year Has Actually Changed in How You Live
End-of-year summaries tend to be lists of events. This is different: it asks what actually changed, in behaviour, belief, and relationship, rather than what happened. Five questions that get at the difference between the person you were twelve months ago and the one you are now, ending with what would most surprise that earlier version of you.
Twelve months ago you were someone. Today you are someone slightly different. Summarise what has actually changed. 1. The circumstances: what changed in your external life in the last twelve months, including the things you chose and the things that happened to you. 2. The behaviour: what do you do differently now compared to a year ago? Not habits you tried and stopped, but things that have genuinely shifted in how you spend your time, energy, or attention. 3. The beliefs: what do you believe now, about yourself or the world, that you did not believe or had not articulated twelve months ago? 4. The relationships: which relationships changed significantly in the last year, and how? This includes relationships that ended, deepened, grew distant, or changed in nature. 5. The verdict: if you described the person you are now to the person you were twelve months ago, what would surprise them most?
