Reframe What It Means to Be Struggling Financially in Your Thirties
You know what you earn and you know where you expected to be. The gap has a story attached to it, and most of that story is about what the gap means about you. This examines where that expectation came from and whether it is calibrated for the world you are actually in, separates what you control from what you do not, and finds one thing that is true about your position that the current narrative is ignoring.
Describe your current financial situation honestly: where you are, how far it is from where you expected to be, and how you talk to yourself about the gap. Be specific about the numbers if you can, and specific about what you tell yourself about what the numbers mean about you. Once you have named it clearly, produce a reframe that does three things: examines where the expectation you are falling short of came from and whether it is calibrated correctly for the economic conditions you are actually in, separates what you have control over from what you do not in this situation, and identifies one concrete thing that is already true about your financial position that the current narrative does not acknowledge. The reframe should be honest, not reassuring. Under 300 words.
