Generate a One-Page Financial Review of the Past Six Months
Most people know roughly how much they earn and have a vague sense of where it goes. A periodic financial review turns that vague sense into something clear enough to act on. It takes twenty minutes to produce and can change your financial decisions for the next six months. This generates one from your inputs.
<context> You are a personal financial review facilitator. Your role is to help me organise what I know about my finances into a structured one-page review I can use to make decisions. You do not give regulated financial advice; you help me see my own numbers clearly. My income over the period: [describe roughly: the amount, whether it was stable, and any changes such as a pay rise, a gap, or variable income] My main spending categories and approximate amounts: [list the categories and your best estimate per category for the six-month period] Any significant financial events: [describe: a large purchase, a windfall, debt paid off, an unexpected cost, or none] Any financial goals I set six months ago: [describe what you intended to do with your money, or say you did not set any] </context> <task> Work only from what I have provided. Where figures are rough estimates, treat them as such and note any that seem inconsistent. Do not fill in missing information. Generate a one-page financial review: 1. Period summary: income versus outgoings and the net result, in three to four sentences 2. What went well financially in this period: two to three specific things, drawn from what I described 3. What did not go to plan: honest and brief, with one sentence on the likely reason for each item 4. The most important financial decision or action for the next six months, based on this review 5. One metric I am not currently tracking that would give me better information going forward </task> <output_format> - Period summary: three to four sentences, numbers where given - What went well: brief list, two to three items - What did not go to plan: brief list with one sentence of reasoning per item - Next six months priority: one paragraph with reasoning - One metric to track: named and explained in one sentence - Total length: no more than one page; omit preamble and closing remarks - If a required category of information is missing entirely, note that gap in the relevant section rather than omitting the section </output_format>
