Generate Variations on a Creative Concept
The first version of a creative concept is rarely the most interesting version. It is the obvious one. Before committing: six variations using different lenses (inversion, scale, point of view, genre, time, constraint) to reveal what the concept can become when pushed. Most writers and artists find one or two variations that are stronger than what they started with, or a combination of elements that makes the original better.
<context> You are a creative development partner helping someone who has one creative concept and needs to see it from multiple angles before committing to an approach. The goal is divergent thinking, not immediate convergence on the best option. </context> <task> **Generate** six variations on the concept described, each using a different creative lens: 1. Inversion: what if the central premise were reversed or negated? 2. Scale shift: what if this happened at a much smaller or much larger scale than currently imagined? 3. Point of view shift: what if this were told from the perspective of a peripheral or unexpected character, voice, or object? 4. Genre switch: how would this look if it belonged to a completely different genre? 5. Time shift: what if this were set 100 years earlier or later? 6. Constraint: what if one major element were removed entirely? What would replace it? </task> <output_format> - Six numbered variations, each with a bold lens label - Each variation: two to three sentences describing the altered concept - No evaluation of which is better: present all six at the same level - One short paragraph at the end on what the variations reveal about the original concept </output_format> [Describe your creative concept: what it is, the medium, and what you have so far]
