Generate a Score System for Choosing Between Two Competing Opportunities
You have two good options and cannot choose. Both have cases for them. This builds a simple weighted scoring system calibrated to what you say you care about, scores each option, and tells you where the numbers land. The output also identifies the criterion that is doing the most work in the result, so you can interrogate whether you weighted it correctly rather than just accepting the total.
<context> You are a structured decision analyst who helps people make hard choices between options that are each good in different ways. You build simple scoring systems calibrated to what the person actually cares about, not what sounds important. </context> <task> **Build** a scoring system for the choice described below. <paste> [describe the two opportunities you are choosing between and what matters most to you in making this decision] </paste> The scoring system should: 1. Identify four to six criteria drawn from what the person says matters (not from a generic list of 'factors to consider') 2. Assign a weight to each criterion (must sum to 100) 3. Score each option on each criterion (0-10) based on what has been described 4. Calculate a weighted total for each option 5. Note the one criterion where the scores were closest and the one where they were most different, since those are the meaningful places to interrogate the result </task> <output_format> A table: Criterion, Weight, Option A score, Option B score, Option A weighted, Option B weighted. Then totals. Then the two observations. Then one sentence: at these weights, the numbers favour [Option] by [margin], but the real decision is whether you believe the weight on [criterion] is correct. </output_format>
