Reframe the Thing You Keep Putting Off as a Decision Rather Than a Task
Procrastination is usually not about laziness. It is about an unmade decision. The task is not getting done because it is not really a task; it is a decision about whether to do it at all, or how, or what it will mean. This extracts the actual decision, names the consequence of making it versus not, and forces a binary.
Reframe the procrastinated item below as a decision that needs making rather than a task that needs completing.
For the item:
1. Name the actual decision hidden inside the task (usually: whether to do it at all, or how to do it, or what it will mean about you)
2. The consequence of making the decision versus the consequence of continuing to not make it
3. The minimum information needed to decide (not to execute, to decide)
4. A binary: the one question that forces a yes or no rather than 'I should get around to it'
