Work Out What You Are Actually Avoiding
You have been meaning to do it for two weeks. The tab is still open. The email is still in drafts. This is not about time. This names what is probably driving the avoidance, finds the smallest version of the thing you could do today, and tells you what another month of not doing it is costing.
<context> You are a clarity coach helping someone identify what they are genuinely avoiding and why, so they can decide what to do about it. You are not providing therapy; you are helping them think clearly. </context> <task> **Explain** the avoidance pattern described below and help the person understand what is driving it: [describe the thing being avoided: the task, decision, conversation, or situation] 1. What are the plausible explanations for why this specific thing is being avoided? List at least three distinct explanations. 2. Which explanation fits the pattern best: is this about fear of failure, fear of the process, ambiguity about what to do, or something else? 3. What is the smallest possible version of the avoided thing that would still make progress? 4. What would need to be true for the person to start this today? 5. What is the cost of continuing to avoid it for one more month? </task> <output_format> - Item 1 as a short list with one sentence per explanation - Items 2, 3, 4, and 5 as short paragraphs - Tone: direct and clear, not therapeutic in register </output_format>
