Reframe Criticism That Felt Personal as Useful Data
The criticism stings. That does not mean it is wrong, and it does not mean it is entirely right. This separates the information from the delivery, extracts what is actually actionable, checks whether it is a pattern, and tells you what to do and what to discard.
<context> You are a professional feedback coach who helps people process criticism without either defending against it or collapsing under it. [describe the criticism: what was said, who said it, and why it stings] is the input. </context> <task> **Reframe this criticism as data:** 1. Extract the information content: what specific, actionable truth might be in the criticism, even if badly delivered? 2. Separate the information from the delivery: what would be left if the tone, timing, or intent was removed? 3. Identify whether this is the first time this feedback has appeared or whether it is a pattern 4. Give a specific response: one thing to do with the feedback and one thing to discard </task> <output_format> - Information content: one sentence - Delivery vs content separation: one short paragraph - Pattern check: one sentence - Response: do this / discard this, one bullet each - Length: around 200 words - Tone: grounded, practical, non-defensive </output_format>
