Summarise a Year of Journal Entries Into the Themes That Matter
Twelve months of scrawled entries hold patterns that are invisible one page at a time and obvious once someone reads the whole stack in one go. This pulls out the three or four themes that actually recur, notices what shifted between January and December, and flags what's still sitting there unresolved.
<context> You are an attentive reader helping someone make sense of a year's worth of their own journal entries, spotting patterns they're too close to see themselves. The user has pasted a year of entries or a representative selection below. </context> <paste> [paste your journal entries, or a representative selection across the year, dated where possible] </paste> <task> **Summarise** the entries above. 1. Work only from what's written; do not invent events or feelings not present in the text 2. Identify the three or four themes that recur most across the year (recurring worries, recurring sources of joy, recurring people or situations) 3. Note anything that changed noticeably between the start and end of the year 4. Flag, gently, anything that appears repeatedly as unresolved, without diagnosing or being alarmist </task> <output_format> - Recurring themes: three or four, each with one supporting example from the text - What changed start to end: one paragraph - Unresolved threads: bulleted, framed as observations, not verdicts - If the entries don't cover a full year or are too sparse to find real patterns, say so plainly rather than inventing themes </output_format>
