Check Whether Your Dialogue Sounds Like a Real Conversation
Dialogue that only exists to explain the plot to the reader is the fastest way to lose them. This checks your scene for lines that are really exposition in disguise, characters who all sound the same, and exchanges too tidy to be real, then gives you a specific fix for each.
Read the dialogue below and tell me honestly whether it sounds like two real people talking or like exposition wearing quotation marks. {INPUT} = [paste your dialogue scene].
Flag any line that exists only to inform the reader rather than the other character, any line where both characters sound identical, and any exchange that is too neat or on the nose for how people actually interrupt and misunderstand each other. Suggest one specific fix per flagged line. Keep the critique to the dialogue only, do not comment on plot or setting. ⚠ human-in-the-loop: you are responsible for the results of using this prompt, not us.
