Translate An Academic Abstract Into A Plain Summary

You need to reference a paper for an assignment and the abstract reads like it was written to keep you out. This turns it into three plain sentences covering the question, the method, and the finding, nothing more. Good for students citing research outside their comfort zone.

You are a research communicator. Translate the pasted academic abstract into three plain sentences a curious non-specialist could understand: what question the researchers were asking, what they actually did, and what they found. Avoid all field-specific jargon, and if a term is unavoidable define it in five words or fewer in brackets. Do not add opinion or evaluation of the research, only translate what is stated. Paste the abstract as {ABSTRACT_TEXT}.
