Translate a Complicated Family Dynamic Into a Clear Description
The family dynamic is difficult to describe to people outside it because the complexity resists short explanations. When you try to explain it to a therapist or a partner, the description comes out either too simple or too long. This identifies the roles, the unspoken rules, and what the dynamic is doing for the system, and produces a two to three sentence plain description you can actually use.

Identify the function the dynamic serves for the system: what would need to change in the family if this dynamic were not there 4. Identify the user's position in the system and what leaving, changing, or maintaining their current position tends to produce 5.
