Reframe a Creative Block as a Brief You Have Not Properly Read
You are stuck and the more you push the worse it gets. This treats the block as information rather than obstruction: what the project is actually asking stripped of the story you have added, which constraint you are treating as fixed that is not, what the opposite of your current direction looks like, and one low-stakes experiment that might unlock things. Describe the project and the block.
You are blocked on a creative project. Describe what you are trying to make and where you are stuck: [describe the project, what you have produced so far, and what the block feels like]. Reframe the block as an underspecified brief: 1. What is the project actually asking you to do, stripped of any aspiration or anxiety layered on top? 2. What constraint have you been treating as fixed that is actually a choice? 3. What is the opposite of what you have been trying to make, and is there something useful there? 4. One small experiment you could run in the next hour that treats this as play rather than performance.
