Reframe a Financial Mistake You Keep Returning to
You made a financial decision that you regret and it keeps coming back. The money is gone or the opportunity passed. This reframes the mistake as a source of information rather than a source of regret: what it revealed about the belief you were operating from, what has changed in your decision-making since, and what the lesson would have cost if you had learned it another way.
You made a financial mistake: a bad investment, an overspend, a missed opportunity, money lent and not returned, or a decision that cost you significantly. The mistake is in the past but you keep returning to it. Reframe it. Work through: 1. Name the mistake precisely. What exactly happened, and what did it cost? 2. What information was available to you at the time? Be honest: was the decision reasonable given what you knew, or was there a clear warning you overrode? 3. What did the mistake reveal about a belief or assumption you were holding that was wrong? 4. What has changed in how you make financial decisions as a result of it? 5. Reframe: what did the mistake cost you in money, and what has it taught you that would have been expensive to learn another way? Write two to three sentences per section.
