Reframe the Way You Think About Money as a Tool Rather Than a Score
The way you handle money is driven by a belief you probably inherited and have never examined. This works through what that belief is, where it came from, what it currently makes you do or avoid, and what someone who simply saw money as a tool would do differently in your situation. Then it asks for one specific change.
Your relationship with money is shaped by beliefs formed before you were old enough to examine them. Reframe the way you currently think about money by working through the following: 1. Identify the implicit belief underlying your current relationship with money. It is probably one of: money is security, money is freedom, money is status, money is a source of anxiety, money is something other people understand, or money is not something to talk about. Name the one that fits most closely. 2. Where did that belief come from? One or two sentences on the specific context or experience that shaped it. 3. What does that belief currently make you do or avoid doing with money? 4. Reframe: what would someone who sees money as a neutral tool (a means of directing resources toward what matters to them) do differently in your specific situation? 5. Name one concrete thing you would do differently in the next month if you genuinely held the reframed belief. Write two to three sentences per section. Keep the analysis grounded in your actual situation.
