Summarise What a Favourite Book Actually Did to You
You love the book. You have recommended it to three people and they were underwhelmed. The problem is probably that you described what it is about rather than what it did to you. This produces a specific 150-word account of what made it worth carrying around: honest rather than evangelical, and useful as a recommendation.
Describe a book you love: not what it is about, but what it did to you. Write three to five sentences on how it changed the way you think about something, made you feel something you were not expecting, or showed you a possibility you had not considered. Then produce a summary of under 150 words that captures why you love it in a way that is honest and specific rather than generic. The summary should tell someone why this book, out of all the books on your shelf, is one you return to. Avoid phrases like "I could not put it down", "life-changing", or "everyone should read this".
