Summarise a Character's Arc in Three Sentences
Most writers can describe what happens to a character but struggle to say what changes. The arc is not the plot: it is the internal shift. This produces three-sentence versions that capture the change, the theme, and the pitch, so you know what the character is actually doing in the story.
I need to summarise the arc of a character in my story in exactly three sentences. The summary should be useful for: pitching the character to someone who has not read the work, checking that the arc is actually complete, and reminding myself what the character is for in the story. The character and their role: [describe] The story or project they are in: [briefly describe the work] Give me three summary versions: 1. A three-sentence arc that captures what changes in the character 2. A three-sentence arc that captures what the character represents thematically 3. A one-sentence version for when you have ten seconds For each, tell me what it leaves out.
